Open Range versus Homesteaders – a battle fought throughout the west. Ranchers usually came first and filed grazing permits on government open spaces of vast landscapes and then treated all those acres as if they owned them. Sodbusters came later establishing valid claims to small sections of that same government land. The ranchers watched as their cattle began disappearing. The small landowners did what they could to survive. The same powder keg played out in Texas, Wyoming and now Nevada.
Here Will finds out his sister he thought was lost during the Civil War is homesteading north of Reno. He tries to help, but she is living with a headstrong young man who wants to go it alone to prove to her they can build something out of the arid range. Ranchers surround them and will not stop at just verbal harassment. Threats and guns come out. When the words become flying lead, people and family get hurt. Will vows to pursue the perpetrators no matter what the cost. The numbers on all sides grow. Â Politicians, armies, cattle associations, Governors and even Presidents get involved with Will right in the middle of a RANGE WAR . . . . .
